Summer is here!
Jim has now been in remission for 4 months. We were remembering last year at this time as he was in the hospital on Father's day weekend with an infection. Unfortunately this year he came down with shingles on his head and face. It has been extremely painful for Jim and we hope the worst is over.
We did want to share a wonderful experience we had with everyone. We participated in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life at Glenbard South High school last weekend. It was great to see so many people walking to raise money for cancer research. Jim and others were honored as survivors. One of the nurses that cared for Jim at CDH was on a team. They were so happy to recognize one another and share a hug. In the evening when it gets dark, luminaries lining the track are lit in memory of loved ones touched by cancer. Everyone attending helps to light them and a silent lap is walked as all the names are read off. It is truly an emotional event. We plan to put our own team together next year.
We hope everyone has a wonderful summer and look for new pictures soon!
God Bless
Patty and Jim
