Happy New Year

With the start of a new year we are hopeful that Jim will recover soon and get back his energy to fight the cancer. Today is day 8 that Jim has been in ICU on a ventilator. He has been stable the last few days and we still have along way to go. Yesterday they started to try and wean Jim from the ventilator so he can exercise his lungs. He needs to slow down his breathing and take deeper breaths to have the tube taken out. They did this 3 times throughout the day where Jim would have a little support from the machine, but basically breathing on his own for an hour or two. He did make some progress and we were so relieved to have a "little" something to celebrate. He is also still on a feeding tube to give him nutrition. Jim has not been able to talk for a week and at times he gets frustrated, but has written some words and uses hand signals. They keep him pretty sedated so he is comfortable.

I will be needing some help this next week as my sister will be leaving and the kids will be back in school. Everyone has been so kind checking in and offering help. I will be calling...so look out!!!

We all wish you a Happy New Year and lots of Love, Peace and Joy in 2010. Thank you for being part of our team!

Wow! Thanks for the great news on Jim! We're so glad he's working his way soon-to-be off the ventilator. It was nice to see you in passing Patty, and the kids as well. I saw Jack this morning outside and then Becca (smiling with her friend while in Jewel). It's so good to see everyone smile. Give Jim our best and please CALL as soon as we can help. Love & prayers, Dawn Collazo & Family

Fantastic news!! Every baby step forward leads to running across the floor. Jim's definitely making progress and will soon be ready to run the next leg of his race. We're all here to provide you the support you need, even those of us too far away to physically help.

Hugs and love to you all.
