Jim had another busy day starting bright and early with some platelets. He then went for a CT of the lungs and head. When he returned they needed to replace his pic line because it has been in since April and could be an easy source for infection. Next another round of platelets before they put a PEG tube (feeding tube) in his stomach. Last night Jim proceeded to once again pull out his NG tube for the 3rd time in a week, even with restraints. The nurses are calling him "Houdini". Jim has also been reluctant to take his medication by mouth. The PEG tube will allow both nutrition and medication on a regular basis, without having to go through his nose.

Jim said a few things to me today, but was mostly quiet and comfortable. It is crucial that he takes certain medications on a schedule to help turn his liver turn around. He continues to have very small bouts of arrhythmia, but fortunately is not in very much pain.

Everyone at Northwestern is rooting for him and Jim has made a lot of friends...despite his stubborn episodes. I am always comforted to see him resting peacefully, with no pain in his eyes. As frustrating as he can be sometimes, I do love to see him continue to advocate for himself.

Please pray for healing...God Bless
