It is hard to believe it has been 2 weeks since Jim's funeral service. Family has surrounded us for most of the time, which has been a wonderful blessing. Becca, Jack and I are now trying to forge ahead, knowing that Jim is guiding us from above. It has certainly not yet sunk in as I know it will in the months ahead. I am grateful that school is starting soon, so the kids can get in their routines. They will both be starting new schools this year. Becca will be a freshman at Glenbard South and just made the volleyball team. She is very excited! Jack will be going into 7th grade at St James the Apostle school. He too is looking forward to a fresh start and a new environment. When I look back now, I see the plan that was already in place to help us through this very difficult time. It brings me comfort to see how the Lord takes care of us....

Thank you for the outpouring of love and support you have given our family. As I had wrote earlier, I will try to keep this blog going to honor Jim and keep everyone updated on our family. I encourage you to share your stories of Jim with Becca, Jack and me. If you are not comfortable posting a message, you can send it directly to me at pattylambert@comcast.net. I plan to one day make a book for the children with all of the entries from this journey. There father was an amazing person that touched so many people.

God Bless

Well, I have a lot of "Jim" stories. I could tell you about the time when he pranked me with a winning $50,000 lottery ticket. Or I could share the amazing time he, Patty, Dennis and I had when we went downtown to the U2 concert and were escorted down to the front to get up close and personal with Bono. Then there was the time that we stood up for Jim and Patty when they renewed their wedding vows a few years back and went golfing afterwards.

But the best time I think I personally had was last November. Jim and Patty just receieved some more bad news on a day that happened to be my birthday. Patty, the kids and I started the day by going to get H1N1 shots, followed by a birthday breakfast. Most of the day was normal and the weather was unusually warm. My family had dinner plans but Jim and Patty insisted we stop by afterwards for some post-birthday wishes. I am so glad we went. Jim had the bonfire going and the music blasting. The beer and wine flowed and Karen, Pat and Jen came over and stayed until the wee hours. Jim was in his element as put his own problems aside for the evening. We laughed and talked and stoked the fire and watched the kids run around the neighborhood. It was what he liked best; being around his friends and family and hanging out. The evening ended eventually for me, but a few others weren't quite finished with the party. Somehow a field striping machine made it to my front lawn that evening to commemorate the day with some personal good wishes that lasted well into the spring.

It was the best birthday ever.
