April 20, 2008

First of all Jim and I would like to thank everyone for all you are doing for our family. The prayers are working and we feel very blessed to have you all on the team. I am happy to report we made some good progress today!

Becca and Jack went to visit Jim today and that really perked him up. He was so happy to talk with then and hear whats been going on over the past few days. Becca made some great posters to brighten up the place.

The funniest thing that happened today was as we were getting ready to leave the hospital, a code red was announced. A siren was going off and we were told we could not leave and to shut the door to the room until further notice. The Fire Station is across the street, so we watch all of the trucks racing over, wondering what was going on. Everyone looked at Jack and asked him if he might have pulled the fire alarm when no one was looking! After about 15 minutes we heard the all clear and said our goodbyes. We were all grateful it was nothing serious.

The best news of the day was a telephone call from Jim at 7:30pm to say he was sitting up in a chair! This has been a goal for a few days and we are very proud of him for accomplishing this today.

It is amazing to see how different priorities are when something like this happens. The little things mean everything and we don't take anything for granted!

Please know how special you all are to give to generously of your time and energy to support us.

Thank you and may god bless you each day....we sure feel blessed even in this trying time.

Jim, Patty, Becca and Jack

Hi Jim,

I hope that you'll actually be able to read these comments from home soon. I'm not sure what kind of view you have from the hospital room, but today was truely a great spring day outside. I'm looking forward to being able to visit with and enjoy your backyard together.
