Two steps forward, one step back. Jim was sitting up and ate breakfast yesterday. He also walked 2 laps around the unit without oxygen on....this was a big step for him. Unfortunately, he continues to spike a fever several times throughout the day. Yesterday's high was 103.3. They continue to take blood cultures to see if they can identify the source of an infection, but so far...no luck. The more Jim sits up and gets walking will help the lungs clear the pneumonia out. He can not come home from the hospital until he is fever free. As much as we want him home for Christmas, we do not want to take chances and go back into the ER on Christmas day.
