The procedure went well today and Jim is resting. He wants to go home and is frustrated that he can not leave. As hard as it is to see him frustrated, it is good to see him get angry and want to fight to get out. Jim will most likely be moved out of ICU in the next 48 hours. Sometime next week he will transfer to a rehab center in Hinsdale that specializes in ventilator weaning. He is quite weak from being in bed so long and will start physical therapy soon to build up his strength.

It was a hard day, but I am confident that we are on the right path to move ahead. Jim has an inner strength that is amazing. He will keep going until he accomplishes his goal, as he does with everything in life.

Thank the Lord for our faith as it keeps us going each day. I placed Jim's mother's rosary in his hand and prayed with before his procedure. When he woke up...with great concentration, he put it in the pocket of his gown next to his heart. Jim has carried this rosary with him everyday since his mother passed away in 2/94. It has always given him great comfort.
