Jim saw Dr. Mehta yesterday. His blood panels were excellent! The lights chains have decreased 85% from the chemo and remain stable right now. His CT scan showed a little congestion still lingering in the lungs. Jim's sister Barb will have her bone marrow collected March 4th. and frozen for a future transplant if needed.
Jim will start a chemo maintenance program in a week to hopefully keep the Myeloma stable for as long as possible. He will begin taking Revlimid - which is the oral drug he started with in 2008. Velcade will be added in 3 to 4 weeks and the Zometa treatments will get started again. (Velcade is a quick IV drug and the Zometa is an IV bone strengthening drug Jim was previously on). We are very encouraged with the new plan of action and pray it will keep Jim going for a long time.
He was also cleared to go back to work. It was a great Birthday gift as Jim celebrates his 50th tomorrow! He is looking forward to seeing everyone at the office and seeing his family of clients out in the field. You all have been so supportive and understanding through these difficult times for Jim. We appreciate your support, which has given Jim his strength and endurance to get back to the dental world.
We feel Jim has been given another miracle considering how very sick he was with the pneumonia. Please pray for continued strength and positive results with this new chemo maintenance. Your prayers have been so wonderful!
If you know anyone with cancer that needs a support system, please have them email or call us. We know how important that has been for us and would like to give back to anyone we can. We have learned so much during the last few years and hope to help others. Support and Faith are HUGE.....Thank You All for giving that great gift to our family! We feel very lucky.
God Bless and Keep The Faith
