We left our house at 6:45 this morning and returned at 7:30 pm. Jim was poked, prodded, had chemotherapy and then needed platelets and red blood cells ASAP. We did not leave downtown until 6:20 and thank the good lord, the traffic was pretty smooth for a Friday night. Yesterday, Jim had his first outpatient dialysis. I was very impressed with the facility and they treated him like a king. What more can you ask for. He is VERY tired from all of the commotion this week and just wants to rest.
I just hooked him up to an antibiotic IV for the next 2 hours and made him his request...Velveeta shells and cheese. We are happy things went somewhat smoothly today and we will be making weekly trips to Northwestern for treatment until the transplant can take place. No word on that yet. Jim has dialysis every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, so tomorrow is another 4 hours. Jim can not use a cell phone during the dialysis treatment, which is too bad as I think it would make the time pass more quickly. All in all, as hard as things are, we are grateful for wonderful doctors and a fantastic support group! God Bless our children for learning to be patient with mom and understanding when I seem to be forgetting everything lately that is not medical related.
On Sunday our neighbors are having a healing mass at their home for us. A priest will say mass, preform the anointing of the sick and then bless our house. We are looking forward to this special celebration and hope it brings our family a little more peace and serenity.
Thank you everyone who has brought meals, invited us over, helped with the kids and just given me hugs when I need them...keep them coming!
Much Love and God Bless
