Good News!!!! Thanks to all of your prayers and support we are getting closer to the big day of the stem cell transplant. Jim will start collecting cells on Monday. These will be long days where he is hooked up to a machine for 7-8 hours each day. After every collection, they will call us that evening and let us know if we need to come back the next day. Most patients collect stem cells for 3 - 5 days. If they can not get what they need after 5 days, we try again then after that we need a donor. Hopefully Jim's will be within the 5 days.
JIM IS SCHEDULED TO CHECK INTO THE HOSPITAL ON TUESDAY AUGUST 12TH TO BEGIN THE TRANSPLANT. THE ACTUAL TRANSPLANT WILL TAKE PLACE ON AUGUST 14TH.
He will be in the hospital for about 3 weeks and then come home for further recovery. During this time he will be in isolation, so it will be a bit lonely. Any emails will be appreciated. Please know that it is hard for Jim to respond to emails...I know that is discouraging, but do not let it hold you back. He/We appreciate any and all communications!! I will try to keep the blog updated every few days to let you know his progress.
We do have family and friends helping out during this time. We are so appreciative of all the meals and errands, etc. throughout this process. I will need some extra help with kids, so I may be calling you. Please continue to pray for our family and we thank you greatly for all you have done.
