I am bringing Jim home today....this was totally unexpected and a wonderful gift! They did not go ahead with the procedure today as they did not feel it would be of benefit to Jim.
Jim had just asked me to order him a Gino's East pizza for lunch when Dr. Mehta came in. I think once he heard that Jim wanted pizza and saw how good he was feeling, it was decided that he could be released. He just finished eating and we are waiting for the discharge papers. We will come back next week for a followup and decide the game plan going forward. The decision has to be made to either move forward with the transplant or try a different chemo regiment.
It is so apparent that Gods hand was in all of this. We had communion this morning and a heartfelt conversation with the Eucharistic Minister. Jim was concerned that the rosary he has carried in his pocket for 16 years was possibly a connection to the illness. He had just switched the pouch he uses to protect it, from a mesh to a velvet one. He heard somewhere that a rosary should be stored in a breathable pouch. Coincidentally, the switch took place right before he got sick this time. This wonderful woman assured Jim that this was certainly not the case and God was with him. She blessed us as she left and then the good news came. We have had so many spiritual moments during this illness. We are grateful that we have God in our lives to guide us along this challenging path.
May God Bless all of you!

Amen to that, sister! Way to go, Jim! You sure seemed ready to go yesterday when we saw you. Let me know if there's anything you guys need. Prayer does definitely work sometimes. Keep the faith. Love you both, Kath.
This is certainly GREAT NEWS!!! You're in our thoughts & prayers.
