The Big Day Tomorrow!

Not only is Jim getting his transplant tomorrow...but they are even having a parade for him downtown. Yes...the Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup, for those who do not follow the sport. Hockey was a big part of my life growing up in northern Minnesota and watching that game last night brought back great memories! Becca graduated from 8th grade last night, so I was not able to watch the game with Jim. He really wanted them to win this particular game, as he won't be feeling really great tomorrow after transplant.

He is in dialysis now and will have the full body radiation this afternoon to eradicate all of his own stem cells. Tomorrow afternoon they will infuse about 5 million cells that are frozen from his sister Barb. Jim is so lucky to have a siblings cells as, they will have a better chance of engrafting. They collected approximately 9 million from Barb and have extra "boosts" ready if needed in the next few weeks. Tomorrow will be celebrated as another "Birthday" for Jim as each transplant marks a "New Birth" for his body. This time taking on a new immune system. We are having the new stem cells blessed before they are infused into Jim's body by a chaplain at Northwestern....we never thought of that before!

So many people to thank for so many things...Thank You from the bottom of our hearts for all you continue to do for us!!

Please hold Jim in your hearts tomorrow afternoon...God Bless!

I couldn't help but think of you, Jim, when I saw that the Blackhawks had won. I had to go to bed and miss the overtime. Too late for this kid!
We will thinking of you tomorrow as you are born again. :-) Your strength, and that of Patty's, is truly inspiring. Our prayers will be with you!
