A Busy Day For Jim

Jim was not able to have the bronchostopy yesterday because of continued bleeding problems with his nose. They did get it done today after his dialysis. He just got back to the room and is exhausted, nauseated and running a slight temp. Jim has needed red blood cells, platelets and plasma both of the last 2 days.

The bronchoscopy went pretty well. He did show some bleeding in the lungs, which is coming from a virus (Rhino Virus...aka common cold) which is common with the immune suppression. They are not sure if there is a pnuemonia or fungus growing at this point. They did take some fluid samples from the lungs today for cultures. It will be a few days before the results will be available. The plan is to continue to treat with broad spectrum antibiotics for the pneumonia as a precaution.

Jim has not wanted to eat the last few days, so his diet will be adjusted again to help with that. He wants restaurant food...but nothing from outside is allowed. Jim is a very easy patient most of the time. When it comes to food however, he can get extremely stubborn! We are all continuing to try and encourage him to eat so he can gain strength.

That is it for today....God Bless

Jim and Patty, We are praying for better days and for the bleeding to stop. I also send prayers for something to make Jim hungry. I hope you are able to take some time for yourself and rest.
